About Us
InterChange Trust is a social enterprise charity and resource centre. It provides a range of services from its base at the Hampstead Town Hall Centre, including education for disadvantaged young people (through the medium of the performing arts), facilities for disabled children and young people, and training to charities, facilities for community groups and accommodation for 13 London charities.
It aims to encourage participation of those sections of the community who would otherwise be denied access to opportunities and services. The Trust also hires halls/rooms in the Hampstead Town Hall Centre, including the 'Council Chamber' that is available for Wedding Ceremonies and Civil Partnerships. InterChange Trust is a registered charity (267043) which works mainly in Camden and Greater London but with some national projects and international links. Its largest programmes – for excluded and disadvantaged young people – are developed and delivered by WAC Performing Arts & Media College.
The charity as a whole employs some 32 core staff, up to 200 sessional staff and tutors and has 170 volunteers per year. It works in partnership with a wide range of statutory, charitable and creative organisations. Its programmes and services are supported by Arts Council England, the London Borough of Camden, London Councils and the European Union.
InterChange Trust's distinctive and high quality premises – a converted and expanded 19th and early 20th century municipal building – were developed with significant lottery support from the Heritage Lottery Fund and Arts Council England and in partnership with the London Borough of Camden.
The facilities at Hampstead Town Hall Centre are fully accessible, with passenger lifts assisting access for wheelchair users and those less mobile to all parts of the building. Four car parking bays for disabled badge holders are located at the side if the building with a rear car park for ambulance and minibus access.
In addition to sizeable rooms for hire in the Victorian building, there is also a purpose built arts and media centre, including two well equipped dance studios, music rehearsal and practice rooms and a drama studio suitable for lectures, meetings, dance and theatre activities.
